Dishwasher
E14
The E14 error code on an Electrolux dishwasher indicates a fault with the water flow sensor — specifically, the machine isn’t detecting water entering the tub correctly. It’s a moderately serious fault that will stop your dishwasher from running, but in many cases it’s fixable at home without a call-out.
What does this error mean?
The E14 code means the dishwasher’s flow meter (also called a turbine or water flow sensor) isn’t registering water passing through the inlet system. Electrolux dishwashers use this sensor to measure exactly how much water enters during each fill cycle. If the sensor reads zero — or an implausibly low figure — the machine throws E14 and halts the programme to prevent a dry-run or flood.

🔍 Likely causes
🛠️ Step-by-step fix
Reset the machine first: turn it off at the mains, wait 60 seconds, then restart and run a short cycle. A temporary sensor glitch will clear this way.
Check your household water supply — turn on a nearby tap to confirm good pressure and flow. If pressure is weak throughout the house, contact your water supplier before investigating the dishwasher.
Inspect and clean the inlet hose: turn off the water supply tap behind the machine, disconnect the inlet hose from the tap, and remove and rinse the small mesh filter inside the hose fitting under running water. Reattach securely.
Check the inlet hose for kinks along its entire length — straighten it and ensure it isn’t pinched behind or beneath the machine. Restore the water supply and run a test cycle.
Clean the flow meter: turn off the water and power, locate the flow meter on the water inlet assembly (usually a small plastic unit with two hose connections, accessible from the bottom front or side panel after removing the kick-plate). Disconnect the hoses, remove the turbine impeller, rinse away any limescale or grit, reassemble, and test.
If none of the above resolves the fault, the flow meter itself or its wiring harness is likely faulty — stop here and call an engineer, as further diagnosis requires a multimeter and component testing.
📞 When to call a professional
Call a qualified appliance engineer if the error persists after cleaning the inlet filter and flow meter, or if you find any damaged, burnt, or corroded wiring near the sensor. When booking, tell the engineer: ‘My Electrolux dishwasher is showing error code E14 — I’ve checked the inlet filter and hose, and I suspect the flow meter or wiring harness needs testing or replacing.’ This will save diagnostic time and may reduce your call-out cost.
⚖️ Repair or replace?
A replacement Electrolux flow meter/turbine sensor typically costs £15–£35 for the part; fitting by an engineer usually brings the total to £80–£140 including call-out. If your dishwasher is under 5 years old, repair is almost always worthwhile. If it’s over 8–10 years old and this isn’t the first fault, compare the repair quote against a new mid-range dishwasher (£350–£600) — at that age, replacement often makes better financial sense.
