Washing Machine
E12
The E12 error code on a Beko washing machine signals a water filling problem — specifically, the machine is taking too long to reach the required water level. It’s a common fault and often fixable at home without a callout.
What does this error mean?
Your Beko washing machine constantly monitors how quickly the drum fills with water. When it detects that the water level hasn’t risen to the correct point within a set time, it throws the E12 code and halts the cycle. This is the machine’s way of telling you the water supply is restricted, leaking away before it can be detected, or that the pressure sensor monitoring the water level has failed.

🛠️ Step-by-step fix
Turn off the machine and check the water supply tap at the wall behind the appliance — make sure it’s fully open (turned anti-clockwise as far as it will go).
Inspect the inlet hose running from the tap to the back of the machine. Straighten any kinks and ensure it isn’t crushed behind the drum.
Turn off the water supply tap, unscrew the inlet hose from the back of the machine, and clean the small mesh filter inside the connector. Rinse it under the tap and refit securely.
Run a short cycle to test. If the machine still shows E12, perform a full reset: turn the dial to ‘Off’, unplug from the mains, wait 5 minutes, then restart.
Check your household cold water pressure by running a tap nearest to the machine. If the flow is very weak, contact your water supplier — this is not a machine fault.
If all the above checks pass and E12 persists, the water inlet valve or pressure switch is likely faulty. These parts require replacing — see ‘When to Call a Professional’ below.
📞 When to call a professional
If cleaning the inlet filter and confirming a good water supply doesn’t clear the E12 code, stop DIY work and call a Beko-approved or reputable independent appliance engineer. Tell them the error code is E12, that you’ve confirmed good water pressure and a clear inlet filter, and that you suspect either the water inlet valve solenoid or the pressure switch. Replacing these parts involves accessing internal components and should not be attempted without appliance repair experience.
⚖️ Repair or replace?
A professional repair for an inlet valve or pressure switch on a Beko washing machine typically costs £80–£140 including parts and labour. If your machine is under 5 years old, repair is almost always worth it. If it’s over 8 years old and showing other signs of wear, compare the repair quote against a new mid-range Beko washer (currently £299–£450 in the UK) and consider replacing.
