Washing Machine
E15
The E15 error code on a Beko washing machine indicates a water leak or flood detection fault — the machine has detected water in the base tray and has shut down to prevent damage. It’s a serious warning that needs attention before you run another cycle.
What does this error mean?
Beko washing machines have a flood protection system with a polystyrene float switch sitting in a drip tray at the base of the machine. When water collects in this tray — from a leak anywhere in the system — the float rises, triggers the switch, and the machine displays E15 and stops. The machine is doing exactly what it should: protecting your floor and electrics from water damage.

🔍 Likely causes
🛠️ Step-by-step fix
Unplug the machine from the mains immediately — never work on or tilt a washing machine while it’s connected to power.
Tilt the machine carefully backwards (get a second person to help) and locate the base drip tray. Use a sponge or towels to remove any standing water you find there — this alone may clear the E15 once the float drops back down.
Inspect the door seal all the way around for visible cracks, tears, or foreign objects (coins, bra wires) lodged in the rubber folds. Clean the seal with a damp cloth and check it seats flush when the door closes.
Pull the machine out and check both ends of the inlet hose (at the tap and at the machine). Hand-tighten any loose connections. Look for cracks or splits in the hose itself — replace if damaged (replacement hoses cost £5–£15).
Check the detergent drawer and its housing for cracks or a misaligned hose at the back of the drawer cavity. Remove the drawer fully and inspect with a torch.
Plug the machine back in and run a short, empty cold rinse cycle. Watch underneath and around the door carefully for any drips. If the leak recurs or the E15 returns with no visible leak, stop and call a professional.
📞 When to call a professional
If you’ve cleared the base tray and can’t find an obvious external leak, the fault is likely internal — a tub seal, drum bearing, or pump housing — and requires partial disassembly to diagnose safely. Call a Beko-approved or Which?-trusted appliance engineer and tell them: ‘My Beko washing machine is showing error code E15, I found water in the base tray, and I cannot locate the source of the leak.’ This saves diagnostic time and money.
⚖️ Repair or replace?
A professional repair for an internal leak — such as a tub seal or pump housing — typically costs £80–£160 including parts and labour in the UK. If your machine is under 5 years old, repair is almost always worthwhile. If it’s 8 years or older and the drum bearings or spider arm are involved, repair costs can exceed £150–£200, at which point a new Beko or equivalent machine (from £299) is the smarter investment.
